Sinophobia: A Secondary Epidemic

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted or threatened the lives of everyone around the world. However, it occurred against a backdrop of xenophobia against Asians and Chinese in particular.

The above image is a diptych of collages that juxtapose the ideals of culture and epidemics on the left with the reality that Chinese individuals face and have faced in the past.
I combined pre-existing media from visual and print sources to create a "remix" and to participate in "remix culture," concepts discussed by law professor and activist Lawrence Lessig in his book Remix (2008). This was part of a class assignment for Honors Collegium 50: Creating Your Roadmap.
